Matthew Jee is the Director of the UK SAF Clearing House (UK SAF CH). Matthew is responsible for the overall delivery and strategic direction of the UK SAF Clearing House.   

Matthew Jee specialises in managing engineering projects and programmes across multiple sectors, including aviation, Ministry of Defence, manufacturing and research. Educated and trained as an avionics engineer in the Ministry of Defence he managed several air launch weapon systems projects and aircraft overhaul programmes. Following a short period as a manufacturing engineer and project lead, he completed an MSc in renewable energy in 2019. 

Matthew has spent the last 6 years working for the University of Sheffield as a project and programme manager for the Energy Innovation Centre’s previous iterations, the Translational Energy Research Centre (TERC) and Sustainable Aviation Fuels Innovation Centre (SAF-IC). The latter sparked an interest in the development, evaluation, and qualification of jet fuels.

Working in a delivery partnership between the Department of Transport (DfT) and the Energy Innovation Centre at the University of Sheffield, the UK SAF CH aims to drive the deployment of sustainable aviation fuels by facilitating the development, evaluation, and qualification of jet fuel from sustainable sources.
