Dr Maria Fernanda Rojas-Michaga
Research Associate
Dr. Maria Fernanda Rojas-Michaga is a Research Associate at the University of Sheffield, specialising in CO₂ capture and utilisation, hydrogen production, and sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). Her research centres on techno-economic and life cycle assessments of various energy systems.
She has contributed to projects on molten carbonate fuel cells, hydrogen production from biomass gasification, and SAF production processes. Maria holds a PhD from the University of Sheffield, a Master’s in Energy and Processes from IFP School (France), and a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of San Simón (Bolivia), where she previously lectured.
Hydrogen production
Our site can generate high-purity hydrogen gas from fossil-free sources such as solar, biomass and natural gas. We are able…
Non-CO2 emissions and contrails
Our research focuses on how SAF affects non-CO₂ emissions like nitrogen oxides (NOₓ), particulate matter (PM), sulphur compounds and water…
SAF and Power-to-Liquid (PtL) production
Our site is capable of producing two innovative types of SAF - Power to Liquid (PtL) and Biomass to Liquid…
